walk away

have i let you go
have i said goodbye
do we ever really walk away
when one leaves this plane of existence

and i know that i can’t be with you now
and i know that doesn’t mean you aren’t here
and i know that i just want to turn back the clock
but i can’t take back what has been done
no i can’t wipe these tears away
no no no no no

i remember the grey skies
they should have told me everything
i wasn’t fast enough strong enough
just not enough to save you
they were all standing around
looking at me with tears in their eyes
the looks on their face told me everything
but i just couldn’t believe

and i know that i can’t be with you now
and i know that doesn’t mean you aren’t here
and i know that i just want to turn back the clock
but i can’t take back what has been done
no i can’t wipe these tears away
no no no no no

the doctors said it was coming soon
i just didn’t want to believe
it was taking you away but
the meds were killing it & killing you
and though i wanted you here, but
you were already on a different plane

and i know that i can’t be with you now
and i know that doesn’t mean you aren’t here
and i know that i just want to turn back the clock
but i can’t take back what has been done
no i can’t wipe these tears away
no no no no no
can’t wipe those tears away
